Anna Virnich
Anna Virnich (born 1984) lives and works in Berlin. Her practice centers around textile based tableaus which surfaces must be understood as membranes and as such in a state of constant inter-penetration. The manipulative and oftentimes fetishising treatment of materials and a latent presence of the corporeal manifests in objects, whose formal composition spans from symbolic exotism to stringently calculated image construction.
The most recent solo exhibitions took place at Kjubh (Cologne), Kienbaum Collection (Cologne), Kunstverein Heppenheim (2024), Drei (Cologne, 2023), Robert Grunenberg (Berlin, 2022), Frieze (with Drei, London, 2021), Schering Stiftung (Berlin), Proyectos Monclova (Mexico City, 2019. The artist furthermore recently contributed to exhibitions at A+B Gallery (Brescia), Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten (Marl), Hatch (Paris, 2023), Strike a Pose at K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein Westfalen (Düsseldorf), Orangerie Schloss Benrath (2022), Akkurat Labs (Berlin, 2021); espacio artkunstarte (Madrid), Bärenzwinger (Berlin, 2020), Achenbach Hagemeier (Berlin), Philara Collection (Düsseldorf), Proyectos Monclova (Mexico City), Hunt Kastner (Prague, 2018) a.o.
