Dennis Buck
Dennis Buck (born 1989, Ulm) lives and works in Berlin. He is a painter who draws attention for his strong use of colors and synthetic textures, such as silicone, that create hypnotic effects on the viewer. The main focus of his oeuvre has often been his signature that contextualizes aesthetic identity-formation, the validity of art in the art market, and the artist's self-prognosis. Through the intersection of mass media and pop-culture clichés, he creates idiosyncratic worlds that are not imitable.
Dennis studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe and the University of the Arts Berlin. He has exhibited widely in solo and group shows across Europe and the U.S., with recent solo exhibitions at Ruttkowski;68 (Paris), Haverkampf Leistenschneider (Berlin), and JVDW Gallery (Düsseldorf). His work has also been featured in institutions such as the Center of Openness and Dialogue (Tirana) and basis (Frankfurt). Dennis has participated in residencies including CCA Andratx (Spain) and Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency (USA). His publications include Soft Problems (Kermesse & Ruttkowski;68) and Dorf (buckbuckbook).
