Manutcher Milani (born 1996, Ghana) lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Zurich as well as a Bachelor in Textile Design from Lucerne. Manutcher's oeuvre, reaching across various media, is situated at the interface of art, textile design and carpet making. In recent years the artist has produced an array of tufted and hand-woven carpets, paintings and sculptures within artistic spaces across Europe and in his native Ghana. His visual language stands out through an abundance of symbols, dazzling colors, ornaments and whimsical figures, drawing inspiration from Ghanaian Adinkra and Persian carpets. Recently Manutcher has expanded his focus into design and sustainable textile manufacturing. In his newest body of work, Manutcher tackles and proposes solutions to the rapidly growing secondhand clothing waste crisis, through patchworking and quilting techniques.
